CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Activity Timelines
Implementation of the school broadcasting service is a dynamic and continuous process which does not end with the first broadcast of a radio and television programme produced by SABC Education Radio and Television. The intention of this report, and specifically this chapter, is to provide SABC Education with some suggested activities and tasks that will ensure successful implementation of the service.
As a conclusion to this report, this chapter focuses on some milestones in the project. The time lines included in this chapter are based on the assumption that detailed implementation will need to be developed by SABC Education teams, themselves .
A milestone can be understood to
be a:
key event, which is
well defined, with
identified deliverables and which are clearly
visible.
Milestones in project
implementation plans must:
Be easy to understand;
Be a good basis for the broad plan;
Link sub-projects to the project plan;
Be a good basis for managing progress in implementation;
Assist management reporting process;
Confirm attainment of achievement of project goals;
Enhance morale via attainment or achievement by staff members;
and
Be the basis for communication about progress of the project.
We have included some of the key milestones for the project through to the end of June, 1999. Doubtless several others will emerge as implementation gathers momentum. These milestones do not include many of the key activities we have identified in earlier chapters, because we believe these are longer term activities which can start after June, 1999.
