NADEOSA Membership Information

NADEOSA is an association of organisations which has various categories of membership. Membership can be secured through a small annual fee, the scale of which changes according to the type of membership.

Annual membership of SAIDE runs according to the calendar year. The membership application form is downloadable (Create link here to membership form). Associate membership is available on application to the Executive Committee.

Benefits of Membership

	NADEOSA offers a variety of services to members. These are listed briefly below.
	1.	Member organizations will be able to gain access, through a single coordinating structure, to a wealth of information on distance education activities throughout South Africa. This will be available both through regular meetings of NADEOSA and its various committees and working groups and via a NADEOSA web site.
	2.	Member organizations will gain an important additional outlet for sharing information which they have gathered and for publicizing their own activities.
	3.	Member organizations will be exposed to a range of other organizations and structures with which future partnerships might be pursued and which, through the opportunities for contact provided by the association structures, might serve to broaden horizons.
	4.	Member organizations will, by channelling information through a single coordinating structure, be much better placed to engage with national initiatives from a position of some strength (as producers and not only consumers - a NADEOSA workshop being run on the distance education quality standards framework developed by the Department of Education is already evidence of this).
	5.	The above benefit brings with it the additional benefit that channelling information through a single coordinating structure will make information on South African distance education activities much more easily accessible internationally, thus giving valuable exposure to initiatives of the member organizations.
	6.	Finally, NADEOSA also provides an ideal platform for people and organizations with an interest in distance education provision to launch projects of mutual interest (such as the two research projects already outlined above). These projects can then be conducted using the extensive organizational infrastructure available via the association’s membership base.

Categories of Membership

	There are six categories of NADEOSA membership, each of which carries a different membership fee. They are as follows:
	A.	Institutions or programmes that provide distance education
	B.	Associations of institutions or programmes that provide distance education
	C.	Consortia of providers of distance education
	D.	Associations of individuals involved in distance education
	E.	Professional bodies in distance education
	F.	Governmental bodies
